Das Guest House, eine Empfehlung aus dem Reisef\u00fchrer, war nicht nur sehr zentral gelegen (weniger als einen Kilometer vom <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Connaught_Place,_New_Delhi\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Connaught Circle<\/a> entfernt), sondern wie beschrieben auch sehr nett und sauber. Mit Amexco ist die &#8222;<a href=\"https:\/\/de.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/American_Express\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">American Express Co.<\/a>&#8220; gemeint. Wir waren ja Kunden dieser Bank (in dem wir unser Geld als Reiseschecks transportierten) und konnten so deren Infrastruktur nutzen. Die bestand nicht nur aus Geldtransfer, sondern auch aus der Lagerung von Briefen. Gerade in L\u00e4ndern mit mangelhafter \u00f6ffentlicher Infrastruktur ist der amerikanische zur Zeit des Wilden Westens entwickelte Gesch\u00e4ftssinn praktisch.<br \/>Die Temperaturen waren gegen\u00fcber denen in Malaysia bitter kalt. Waren es in Kuala Lumpur nachts \u00fcber 20 Grad und tags\u00fcber etwas \u00fcber 30 Grad, so herrschte hier Winter, mit nachts teilweise unter 5 Grad und tags\u00fcber kaum \u00fcber 20 Grad. Die Luft war voller winterlicher Ger\u00fcche, insbesondere dem brennender Holzkohle. Dieser Geruch pr\u00e4gte sich so stark bei uns ein, dass wir sp\u00e4ter, wenn dieser Geruch irgendwo auftrat, uns immer wieder im winterlichen Delhi w\u00e4hnten.<br \/>Das Essen war allerdings \u00fcberraschend gut. Hatten wir uns bereits an scharfes Essen gew\u00f6hnt, so gab es rund um die Unterkunft alle Sorten Essbares, aber \u00fcberwiegend Vegetarisches, direkt an St\u00e4nden an der Stra\u00dfe zu kaufen. Ich erinnere mich an eine sehr s\u00fc\u00dfe und fettige Speise, gebacken im \u00d6l, welches zusammen mit dem \u00fcblichen Schwarzen Tee, ein hervorragendes Fr\u00fchst\u00fcck ergab.<\/p><p>Die Fotos zeigein einen Teil des zentralen Platz von New Delhi, den Connaught Place, der nach dem Ersten Weltkrieg geplant und gebaut wurde. Er z\u00e4hlt heute zu den teuersten Gesch\u00e4ftadressen in der riesigen Stadt.\u00a0 Anhand der Pylone mit den Block-Angaben (&#8222;A&#8220;, bzw. &#8222;B&#8220;) lassen sich die Aufnahmepositionen sch\u00f6n nachvollziehen. Die Autos, die auf den Fotos zu sehen sind, waren f\u00fcr uns damals schon Oldtimer.
